When it comes to Google, IIS get infected more easily than Apache

A recent study of the search engine points to malware hosting by Web servers. According to this study Apache is in much better shape than Microsoft.

Google’s study on malware focuses in part on web servers that host and distribute. IIS, Microsoft’s web server, which hosts and distributes, according to Google, a lot more malware than Apache.

The information was released by Google on its official blog. 23% of the sample (about 80 million domain names and 70,000 servers) use Microsoft IIS security and they represent 49% of infected machines.

In comparison, Apache is installed on 66% of the servers, and 49% of them are also infected.

A closer look at these numbers shows, according to Google, that IIS is two times more prone to infection with malware than Apache server security. In defense of Microsoft and Google as stated, there are still figures that reflect only those domains hosted, which means that thousands are unused and therefore harmless to the user were recorded.

Furthermore, in terms of Microsoft, all the servers using their system has been considered, including those operating without a license, and therefore not receiving updates security, says Mr. Ramzan, of Symantec.
